Michelle “Michi” Forteza is an emerging Puerto Rican textile artist whose work celebrates her heritage and love for sewing. Raised in a family where sewing was a way of life, she learned from her mother and aunt—Cuban seamstresses who emigrated at 18 and built new lives stitch by stitch. Today, Michi transforms reclaimed fabrics into pieces that blend tradition with a fresh, modern voice, honoring her lineage while expressing her own creative identity.
